Your Guide to Hiring Sports Halls in London

If you're searching for sports hall hire in London for a corporate team-building day, weekly training sessions, or a private event, you’ll find various professional spaces available across the city. But before you get on with the booking, consider our tips and tricks to make the most of your event and venue.

What to Consider Before You Hire a Sport Hall or Gymnasium in London

Not all sports halls are created equal. Before you make a booking, take time to review the following:

  • Flooring specifications – Different sports require different surfaces. Sprung wooden floors are ideal for dance and basketball, while vinyl or rubber floors may be better suited to general fitness or martial arts.
  • Equipment availability – Some venues are fully equipped, while others require you to bring your own gear. Confirm in advance whether items such as nets, mats, or goals are provided.
  • On-site amenities – Check for essentials like changing rooms, showers, and storage facilities if your event requires them.
  • Accessibility – Ensure the venue provides step-free access, accessible toilets, and lifts where necessary.

Types of Events You Can Host in London Sport Halls

Sports halls in London have become go-to venues for much more than just sports. Their spacious, open layouts, durable flooring, and competitive hire rates make them a smart choice for a wide range of events. If you're hosting a fitness class, martial arts class, or dance rehearsal, these venues provide the flexibility and functionality you need.

They’re also increasingly popular for non-sporting uses like corporate team-building days, creative workshops, birthday parties, or community markets. Many halls now include features like AV setups, changing facilities, and accessible entrances, making them suitable for both casual and professional gatherings.

If you're planning an event and need a venue that’s adaptable, affordable, and easy to access, hiring a sports hall near you could be the right move. These spaces can be tailored to suit your needs.

Booked Laurels on the Roof at Mondrian Shoreditch

Everything was incredible- our event was organised pretty last minute (less than three weeks ahead of time) and Aliyah at the Mondrian was so helpful and responsive throughout the process. The Mondrian were super accommodating with everything that we requested, and the staff on the night were also INCREDIBLE, so friendly and very happy to help with anything we asked for. The venue itself was obviously stunning, and we were lucky to have it on a sunny evening so the photographs look great :)
